Interactive Maps with Smart Clustering: Finding Brands in the Same Town
Our interactive brand map now intelligently clusters nearby brands and uses spiderfy visualization to display multiple brands at the same location. Single-click any cluster to zoom progressively to city and township level. When you reach maximum zoom and brands are co-located, they expand in a radial sunburst pattern with spider legs connecting to the cluster center—elegant, intuitive, and mobile-friendly.
Our interactive brand map just got smarter. We’ve added intelligent clustering and spiderfy visualization—two features that make exploring geographic brand concentrations feel natural and elegant.
What’s New
Progressive Zoom Clustering: Single-click any cluster to zoom progressively toward city and township level (zoom 11). No more double-clicking or guessing where to zoom.
Spiderfy for Co-Located Brands: When multiple brands share the same town or city, they expand in a radial pattern with connecting “spider legs” from the cluster center. Each brand gets its own marker with full profile information.
Industry-Standard UX: Works exactly like Google Maps or Mapbox—single click to zoom, smooth animations, consistent orange markers throughout.
Why This Matters
Right now, we geolocate brands at the city and township level (zoom 11). We don’t have street addresses—and for most discovery use cases, you don’t need them.
When you’re exploring “Which heritage brands are in Penang?” or “Show me natural beauty brands in Altai,” you care about the region and city, not the exact street corner.
But this creates a challenge: multiple brands often share the same town. Without spiderfy, you’d only see one marker with a number badge. With spiderfy, each brand gets its own visible marker and popup card.
How It Works
Zoom Levels:
- Low zoom (< 8): Clusters show brand counts, zoom in large increments (2-3 levels)
- Medium zoom (8-10): Progressive zoom toward city/town level
- Maximum zoom (11+): Clusters dissolve into individual markers—unless brands are co-located
Spiderfy Trigger: When you reach zoom 11 and a cluster still exists, those brands are in the same town. Click the cluster and they expand in a radial sunburst pattern (~1.5km diameter) with orange spider legs connecting each marker to the cluster center.
Visual Consistency: Spider markers use the same orange circles with white borders as regular markers—just arranged in a perfect circle around the cluster point.
What’s Next
We’re considering premium detailed geolocation as a future feature. For brands that want precise locations (showrooms, flagship stores, factory tours), we could offer street-level accuracy with custom map pins.
For now, city and township level gives you the discovery power you need without overwhelming the map with unnecessary detail.
Try It Yourself
Visit any market page or sector page and click the map tab. Try clicking clusters in Malaysia, Russia, or India to see the progressive zoom and spiderfy in action.
